STACY KERR, PRINCIPAL
Stacy Kerr is an experienced strategist who has proven value to large, multi-stakeholder institutions, helping organizations and leaders advance strategic goals and communicate effectively. Stacy's experience has included leading crisis communications, overseeing strategic communications on large, multi-stakeholder initiatives, and managing digital and social properties, central creative services teams, and media relations. She has served as an advisor to senior leaders, including members of Congress, presidents of organizations, chief executives and COOs.
Stacy served as the Chief Communications Officer at Georgetown University where she was responsible for positioning the iconic, global Georgetown brand in an increasingly competitive and complex landscape. During her tenure, Stacy played a leadership role in issues management, including navigating the disruptive forces currently changing the landscape of higher education, implementing the Affordable Care Act, realigning the Big East athletic conference and articulating Georgetown's work to engage its history with slavery.
Stacy also has fifteen years of experience in politics at the national level, serving as a senior aide to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for nine years. She traveled domestically with Pelosi to more than 50 congressional districts, internationally with delegations of Members of Congress, and helped to pass historic legislation in the Congress, including the Affordable Care Act. In addition to her communications experience, Stacy played a leadership role in the operational transition from Democratic Leader to Speaker of the House, establishing structures to support the political and legislative success of House Democrats.
Stacy has experience and a personal commitment to women’s leadership and gender equity. She serves as an advisor to the OWN IT Women’s Leadership Summit, was a founding member of the Georgetown Women’s Alliance and served as a leader in Georgetown University’s involvement as an IMPACT Champion in the United Nations’ global “HeForShe” campaign for gender equity.
Stacy is a graduate of Smith College and has a master's degree in Global Strategic Communications from Georgetown University. She is a member of the Arthur W. Page Society, the world's leading professional association for senior public relations and corporate communications executives and educators.
Through her company, Kerr Strategies, Stacy advises a number of organizations on brand, reputation and issues management and crisis communications. She lives with her family in Washington, D.C.
